Malabar Transmitter Annex Biological Survey, Patrick Air Station, FL, United States Air Force. 2013-2014.
Alshouse & Associates in recently completed a biological survey on the 574-acre Malabar Transmitter Annex (MTA) in Palm Bay, Florida. The purpose of this 10 month biological survey was to identify the habitat types on the parcel, and investigate the presence or absence of any Federal or State protected plant and wildlife species and other common wildlife species. Emphasis was given to: a.) identifying, classifying and mapping gopher tortoise burrows; b.) scoping gopher tortoise burrows to determining presence/absence of gopher tortoises and their commensals; c.) performing acoustical bat survey; and d.) investigating the presence/absence of Audubon’s crested caracara, Florida scrub jay, indigo snake and wood stork.
